Chase Away Dry And Brittle Hair…
Spring is finally here and this means lighter hair! Many of my clients are already asking for brighter looks, and blonder blondes. Clients have also been arriving at the salon with very dry hair due to the ever changing weather.
Here are 5 simple tips to keep parched ends quenched and locks looking shiny:
1. Air Dry As Much As Possible
On the days when you’re relaxing at home or running errands, let your hair dry naturally instead of blasting it with a dryer. Letting your mane accessory rest a few days a week makes a huge difference. You will be amazed at the results after only 6 weeks!

When you do decide to blow dry, use a product with lots of moisture! Most people are skeptical about this step, but it is absolutely essential to maintaining healthy hair. An amazing product to use is Moroccan Oil, which now comes in a lite formula for fine hair. Moroccan Oil is more natural than other silicone based products and it can also be used as a deep treatment. www.moroccanoil.com
Don’t like oily products? No worries! Try Davines Momo Anti-Frizz Fluid. It’s a non-greasy cream that really locks in moisture. www.davines.com
3. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner at least once a week.
Most women use volumizing or clarifying products which tend to dry the hair out because they open the cuticles. A moisture shampoo will fill the gaps where moisture has been lost and a conditioner will seal it down. End your shower with a cool rinse to close down the cuticles so that you can retain as much moisture as possible.
4. Maintain a Balanced Diet.
”We are what we eat.” This old saying remains true. Many people don’t think about how food and nutrition can have a major impact on the growth and condition of hair. If your diet is poor, it will reflect not only on your skin and body, but on your hair as well. Always drink plenty of water, along with your daily dose of Vitamin E. Will this make your hair softer? No, but it will prevent your scalp from overworking, which results in oily roots.

After shampooing, towel-dry your hair and evenly distribute 2 quarter size amounts of a treatment oil through your locks, concentrating on mid-lengths to ends. Leave it on anywhere from 30-60 minutes and then shampoo again and condition as normal. Try the NouNou Pak from Davines, or Phillip B. Rejuvenating Oil for Dry or Damaged Hair.
